Browse the roomsThe Lobby
One room for everyone, in every language. It is the place to say hello or ask a question without waiting to be matched with anyone.
LobbyEveryone, every languageRooms in your language
There is a room for each of eight languages, named in its own script. When enabled and available, incoming text in live chats, rooms and friend messages can be translated, with the original still visible. Friend messages use your account profile's language. Profile bios use your site language; About shows the original too.
Community rooms
Rooms for bi, gay, lesbian and trans people and their allies, and a room each for girls and for guys. The girls' and guys' rooms go by the gender on your profile, which nobody verifies; non-binary people can enter both.
Rooms people make
With a free account (no email needed) you can make up to two rooms: a name, one line about it, up to three topics such as music, gaming or anime, a mark and a colour. Keep it public, or open it only to people with its link or to your friends. A room nobody uses for 30 days is removed.
See every roomHow rooms work
- Your name, generated avatar, country, language, short bio and equipped profile styles appear in the room. If you set a gender, it appears in People here while you are present. Your age, orientation, interests and photo avatar are not shown.
- Each room keeps its latest 80 messages for up to 30 days, so you can read what was said before you arrived.
- Mute anyone from their name, or report a message. Moderators review reports and can remove messages.
- Joining and writing only need a name. Sharing photos and making rooms need an account.
A room or a one-on-one chat?
A room is a conversation that is already going: read first and join in when you like. A random chat pairs you with one person, and your interests and language help choose among the people searching. You can keep searching for a chat while you read a room.

Do I need an account to join a room?
No. Choose a name on the chat page and you can join any public room. A free account, with no email, is needed only to make a room or share photos. chatsizzle is for people 13 and older.
Who can see what I write?
Everyone in the room, including people who join later and read its recent history. Each room keeps its latest 80 messages for up to 30 days, and deleting your account removes your room messages. Anyone can copy what you share, so post nothing you would not want made public.
Are the rooms moderated?
You can mute anyone or report a message, and anyone can report a room someone made. Moderators review reports and can remove messages, but nobody reads every room as it happens, so leave and report when something is wrong.
Why is a room quiet?
Each room shows how many people are in it right now. When it is quiet, try the Lobby, leave a line for the next person, or come back for Chat Hour at 12:00 or 23:00 UTC.
